Create your own practice tracks with MUSESCORE

If you have a laptop or desktop computer you can create your own tracks for learning your part of any of our music.

MuseScore is like a word-processor, like Microsoft WORD, but for writing music.

It takes a bit of time to learn at first, but in the process you learn your part and how the piece of music is “constructed”. You will learn how to read music as you “copy” every note, every barline, every rest, every semi-quaver, quaver and minim, and all the other music notation.

You can download MUSESCORE free from the internet. You do not have to pay anything for it (unless you want the “pro” version). First you download the MuseScore.exe file and this will automatically install the full program.  CLICK HERE to go to the MuseScore Download page.

You then create a new score and add in things like the key signature, time signature and tempo from the helpful “palette” of music symbols. You choose the instruments, in our case VOCALS. After that you just copy each note on to the score using your computer keyboard. Each note on the scale EFGABCD are the keys on your computer keyboard. The length of the note is a number: 5 is a quaver, 4 a semi-quaver.

At first it is slow but as you get more confident you learn the notes and soon are “copy typing” the score.

To help you I can supply a blank score setup with staves for Tenor1, Tenor2, Baritone, Bass voices and a piano stave. Just email me and I can email it back to you.

Do try Musescore. You will find it very rewarding when you create your own practice tracks.
