WE PRACTICE ON TUESDAYS
Have you ever thought of singing with a choir? You are welcome to come and try us out.
All you need is enthusiasm.
Here we answer a few question that you may have ....
No, but after having attended for some weeks, you may be asked to sing something of your choice, or a few scales, privately with Huw, our MD, just to check that you are singing in the right voice range.
Will everyone laugh when I get it wrong?
Well, if we laughed at everyone who got it wrong, we would be laughing all night.
Tuesday practices are the time to get it wrong, that is how we learn; and when we get it right, it's a wonderful feeling. We also do have quite a few laughs on a Tuesday!!!
It's a question we are often asked. The answer is no.
Some members can read music, many of us have some knowledge of how to read a score, but it has generally been learned after years singing with choirs. Our music professional, Huw, often take time to explain musical notation to us, so we all learn as we sing. This is your opportunity to expand your horizons and learn about music, as well as have fun.
Also, to assist us we have "rehearsal tracks" for most of our songs, so you can listen and practice at home, or in the car, during the week.
Like most male voice choirs in concert we generally sing from memory, that is without music.
What will it cost to join?
To come along and see if you enjoy singing, it will cost nothing, except £1 for a cup of tea or coffee (including biscuits).
First few weeks are free. You can join in the singing and see what we are all about.
If you decide to join us our annual subscription is currently £156 payable at the start of our singing year in January, or in monthly installments. This does include the cost of your uniform jacket and tie and musical scores (which are on loan). If you join at anytime after January you will pay pro-rata, and you can pay the membership fee in monthly installments.
However it won't cost you a penny to give it a try and if you don't enjoy yourself, (we will be very surprised) well, so be it; at least you came and found out.
We welcome beginners and experts and are committed to make sure everyone can access our events and feel included.
In case you need it HERE is our Data Protection Policy
So can we tempt you to come along on a Tuesday?
No obligation (as the salesman would say). Just come along just before 7.30pm to The Pallant Centre (St Faith’s Church Hall), The Pallant, Havant PO9 1BE MAP .
It is all on the level (no stairs) and plenty of parking nearby. We can even arrange a parking space close by the door if you have any difficulties.
Someone will greet you as soon as you arrive in to the hall. They will introduce themselves and introduce you to Huw our MD.
We will soon find you some music, sit you down and explain what goes on. If you don't want to sing immediately you are welcome to just sit a listen. You can join in when you feel like it.
Just think though, if you don't come along and try it you will never know how good it feels to sing in harmony with a great bunch of guys!
PS You are welcome to bring a friend as well.
